Press Release for The Secret Of Angel Island

Author Tony Mead’s new novel continues high sea adventures
Protagonist Benjamin Burrows experiences growing pains, pirates in second book in series
BRIGHOUSE, England – Author Tony Mead shares his love of ships, the sea and pirates in a second novel chronicling the adventures of Benjamin Burrows titled “The Secret of Angel Island: Lt. Ben Burrows R.N” (published by AuthorHouse).

Inspired by authors like R.L. Stevenson, C.S. Forester and R.D. Blackmore, Mead weaves romantic adventures loosely based on the history of 19th-century Britannia.

Protagonist Ben Burrows is second lieutenant on the frigate Adventurer, the royal navy ship tasked with stopping illegal slave-trading vessels in the Caribbean. A secondary plot line develops as Burrows is convinced he has a genuine treasure map that once belonged to Captain Kidd, but he needs an angel to show him the way to the fortune.

Burrows’ character epitomizes the growing pains of the transition from boy to man as he deals with the hard life and conditions of a sailor in the 19th century.

An excerpt from “The Secret of Angel Island”:

“Ben closed his eyes to relish the moment, the sound of the ship, wind, and sea, the creaking and stretching of sails and rigging humming in the wind, they were as musical as any symphony to his ears.”
