The story twists and turns offering a glimpse of life in the early 19th century.
The story tells the tale of an unlucky boy named Ben Stone. Ben flees for his life one day after the wicked brother of his sweet heart, Ruth, is accidentally killed. He runs because he fears that he will be blamed. His attempt to stay hidden from the world fails as he is press-ganged into the Royal navy. He makes a good life for himself there, but his past comes back to haunt him. Standing trial for a crime he did not commit, Ben must prove his innocence and clear his name before it is too late.
The final chapters are set in the Caribbean, and the ending leaves it wide open for a sequel.
